Ferry Building

Built in 1898, the Ferry Building has long been a symbol of San Francisco’s historic waterfront. In 1998, a public/private redevelopment partnership was formed to rehabilitate the space, and Plant was chosen as the general contractor. The extensive renovation of the historic structure included the removal of portions of the original second floor structure and all of the modern-era third floor structure in the nave space to create a dramatic, three-story atrium along the entire length of the building.

In 2003, the project was completed and the Ferry Building returned as a bustling destination for San Francisco residents and visitors. The vibrant interior marketplace attracts over one million visitors annually, and the second and third floor offices are 100% leased to premier tenants.
