UC Berkeley Steam Tunnel
Plant completed shoring repairs for the existing reinforced concrete utility/steam tunnel that runs below Campanile Way, a major thoroughfare running across UC Berkeley’s active campus. The repairs included horizontal, pressure-treated wood lagging boards, vertical steel channel sections, Ellis shores, and concrete patching that was installed in the existing tunnel to help support the failing concrete at the walls and ceiling so they could accept HL93 traffic loads.
This project also included the replacement of the aluminum traffic rated access hatch and the west most section of Campanile Way.
