We are pleased to announce that UC Santa Barbara has awarded Plant + Arcadis + Glumac the design-build contract for the renovation of three buildings on campus, the University Library, Cheadle Hall, and Phelps Hall.
The oldest building on campus, Davidson Library, will have its air handling units (AHUs) rebuilt along with other miscellaneous mechanical and controls equipment updates to improve system reliability and energy efficiency. At Cheadle Hall, the team will replace the emergency generator system, demolish the existing chilled water (CHW) plant, and connect a new CHW to the campus distribution network, and update building controls and office HVAC. Finally, the AHUs and exhaust fans in Phelps Hall will be replaced.
Notice to Proceed kicks off this week, with completion slated for Q1 of 2026. This will be the continuation of a strong partnership developed between Plant, Arcadis, Glumac, as well as Buehler Engineering, Air Systems Service & Construction, and Taft Electric Company over the delivery of dozens of similar projects in the past three decades.
Congratulations to Phillip Aguilar and his team!
