UCSF Animal Research Facility
Located on the UCSF Hunters Point campus within the existing Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases (IND) Animal Research Facility, this project consists of one story of vivarium, offices, support spaces, and mechanical rooms. The facility has a combined square footage of over 21,500 SF, that is composed of space used for breeding and housing animals, experimentation, and support space. The project will be phased to maintain continuous operation of the facility and its 30 full-time IND staff members and all ongoing animal husbandry, veterinary medicine, and research activities. Minimizing disruption to staff, operations, and animals during construction is a priority.
The project objective is to replace aging equipment and infrastructure. The scope will include architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, low voltage technology, and fire alarm upgrades.
